About

IMG_1217I am Agnija Kazuša, a journalist, writer, youth worker, teacher and generally a creative person – so to say, a Communication Angel – who is open for any kind of experience and cooperation. These are the fields that describe me the best:

Journalism. My relationship with the text started in high school when I got involved in my school magazine and the regional youth paper. Later, I obtained a Master degree in Communication Science from the University of Latvia. During my studies I worked as a stringer for the largest newspaper in Latvia at the time – Diena. I have also published articles in other newspapers and magazines (Sievietes PasauleTVNET, VETO Magazine, Popcorn, Orange Magazine, etc.) and worked as an editor-in-chief for the local newspaper Lielvārdes Ziņas (Lielvārde News). Having discovered persistent and passionate interest in music, I started my own radio show about music and travelling called Mans Meridiāns (My Meridian) on an internet radio station Radio QBS. Currently I share my music and travel experiences on this blog.

Creative Writing. Having returned from Egypt where I taught English for 10 months, I realized my life was a novel and I wanted to tell it to others which I did on a specially dedicated internet platform. Soon after I joined the Creative Writing course in Riga to learn more about writing and meet other writers. Currently I am writing short stories and novels.

Ankara 169Youth Work. Already as a high-school student I showed an interest in youth activism and had a strong will to make a difference in the world. Numerous projects, ideas, workshops, seminars, youth exchanges from Sofia to Tokyo, from Cairo to Riga still belong to my daily life experienced with such youth organizations as FEJS Latvija, AEGEE, AIESEC and other youth initiatives. One of my persistent interests has been a cooperation within the countries in the EuroMed region. Especially I feel proud of FEJS Latvija as the initiator and co-founder of the organization. It has allowed journalism students to set up a unified platform for networking, exchanging opportunities and learning new journalism trends and practises by organizing different kinds of activities (study visits, panel discussions, seminars) and involving more people. As a youth worker, I have coordinated projects, facilitated workshops and worked behind ideas that tackle intercultural dialogue, youth empowerment, inclusion, integration, gender equality,  socio-economic inequality, education and others.

Teaching. Having obtained a Master degree in Communication Science, I ventured to Egypt to discover another passion of mine – teaching. After a 10-month trial in the land of pyramids and Pharaohs, I have taught English in many other parts of the world, including Latvia, Morocco, India and China each of those bringing me different experiences. I have prepared students for IELTS and TOEFL exams, I have taught in groups and individually. I have also taught at a school preparing kids for the Cambridge Checkpoint exam.

a youth worker,

a teacher,

until I realize

I am nothing more, nothing less

than a traveller

who travels,

listens to music,

drinks coffee,

and tells the tale…
